Merida was born in Havana, Cuba in 1963 and attended Academy of Arts of San Alejandro, Cuba. He has exhibited in Cuba since 1985 as well as internationally in Italy, Portugal, South Africa, The Netherlands, and France. Merida’s work is influenced by his environment and the times—a representation of his emotional and passionate focus on his surroundings.
